The Chaturvaka View on Mind

The Vedanta tendency to make Brahman a mental principle because of all physical phenomena may even be seen as unreal. But Samkhya and Niyaya Vaisheshika insisted that humans have some immaterial psychological principle. There was widespread acceptance that the mind or self, if it exists at all, can survive on its own without the body.
