The Saudi Arms Deal: A Bigger Deal
Last year Pompeo was working on a deal to sell $8 billion worth of armed Saudi Arabia and the UAE. He declared a national emergency which allowed him to skip the congressional review process and fast track these arms sales. By law, the executive branch is required to give Congress 30 days notice about their intent to sell arms to a foreign country. During that time, Congress can block the sale.
