The Scale of Violence
With gunpowder, even a weakling could kill a very strong person with a shot to the head o the volley of a rifle. It meant also the kind of defensive treats that people could put together changed in character. But not all changes make for the enlargement of power. If you need to have an army of a hundred thousand men too get anywhere in change, terms of changing the government, not many changes will take place. We've seen that expressed in numerous ways in recent years and it's apparently incorporated into russian strategy as they attack ukraine. And we sometimes wonder why are they doing that?
