Stress creates a stress response in the body. If you find yourself wanting to appease or make someone feel okay with you that's the fun response, right? You might freeze. The trauma doesn't just go away. We say, well, I must be bad. It starts to create a stress response. When we see that look in that person's face or, you know, whatever, and we have different ways. This is largely how personality develops.
