The word transfigured means your figure has changed. It seems to me that this is telling us that all the time he's been with his apostles and disciples, his glory, his true nature has veiled. No one has seen the real Jesus. And this is his moment for his closest apostles to see him for who he really is. To know as we are known is part of what it's like to be in the celestial kingdom.
