The End of SeaWorld's Killer Whale Shows
SeaWorld had experienced an 84% reduction in profit from previous years. In November 2015, the company announced that its killer whale shows would be phased out permanently. CEO Joel Mambi said it was influenced by society's shifting attitude towards keeping killer whales in captivity. The move is like no longer whipping lions in the circus act but keeping them locked inside cages for life or no longer beating dogs but never letting them out of crates.
