The Initiation Right of Passage
Arnold van gennop was a thinker in the early twentieth century who coined the idea of aninitiation right of passage, rit te passage. He's positive there's kind of like a tripartite structure to a lot of rights of passage. There's a leaving your old roll, that's the first stage. The second stage is kind of aliminal space in between the rolls - where you're outside of the rules for a little bit. And then there's a return and a reintegration in your new roll.
