He came across a poker book on Holdum by David Sklansky. And that was enough for him to actually do well in the game because then he actually knew more than they did. He discovered no limit also and eventually ended up playing at the Mayfair, which was in New York. It's amazing about that era is that if you look at the names that he was sort of growing up with and poker, it's actually super astonishing.
Annie Duke is a former poker player and author. She holds a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet from 2004 and at one point won more money in WSOP history than any other female. She is still in the top four as of September 2021, despite being retired from poker, last cashing at a tournament 2010.
She is the author of three phenomenal books Thinking In Bets, How To Decide, and Quit.
