Bond Investors Didn't Take Credit Risk

Ackman: silicon valley bank did not fail because it made bad loans. The people that loaned money to were overwhelmingly Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which are owned by the government under 100% likely to pay back when they have to right? Ackman: Silicon Valley bank very deliberately took no credit risk. It wasn't running the risk that the people that was lending money to were going to default, he says. A few months after buying bonds for a hundred billion dollars suddenly those bonds were worth 83 billion dollars according to Ackman.
