Teaching Philosophy - I'm a Research Academic
I started teaching philosophy at good public universities. At first I loved it. I loved the teaching. And then something started to wear me down. It was that keeping my life centered on research, which is the practice of a research academic - didn't really work for me. The stuff I was writing, I was very interesting to me, but it was for a very small audience. Its significance was not obvious and its grand significance wasn't obvious.
