How to Interpret an Elevated Lactate Level

Elevated lactate is common in severe asthma and there are a couple of reasons for it. Alveolar or beta agonist therapy cause so much sympathetic stimulation that it can cause type B lactic acidosis. If the patient stops correcting their elevated CO2, that's when you know that things are getting bad.
