Dr Vicki Neal is a lecturer in maths at the University of Oxford and author of Why Study Maths. People didn't start using notation for pie till like 1700s so pie wasn't called pie before 1700s. In 1897 Indiana tried to legislate that pie should be 3.2 because it's a nice round number. That's what unifies the entire political spectrum simplifying pie to something that it's not. If you pick any two whole numbers at random if they have any factors in common the probability that they are co-prime is 6 divided by pie squared.
