Why Concert Tickets Are So Expensive

CYBER

CHAPTER

I Don't Buy Concert Tickets Often, Right?

Ticketmaster and LiveNation, which we can talk about in a second, have tried to calculate what the maximum price anyone is willing to pay for a ticket. And so instead of tickets costing $100 or face price, they now cost $200 or $400 based on whatever signals that algorithm is seeing. So no one is getting lucky in the past, you used to be able to buy a ticket for cheap, like if you wanted to go see the band, you would maybe pay $50 and maybe that was true value. Now it's just kind of screwed, right? You're just stuck in the process changes all the time also.
