The game systematizes relationships in a way that's actually pretty creepy when you think about it. You can waste your time socially with someone and not even get close to like leveling up. This is an unsated thing underlying a lot of persona where if you choose the right thing in every conversation, you will maximize someone's friendship toward you. And for a while I was kind of role playing in those just for fun. But then I realized what you really need to do is kind of play into someone's desires and tell them what they want to hear.
