Until the 80s italy had the largest communist party in any European country which then evaporated more or less overnight. Many parties ended up being dissolved and many politicians fed into exile afterwards. It's mainly the 2000s that lock in this profound demobilization which we also spoke about before but as we say it's the euro zone which has really exacerbated this problem.
Featuring Anton Jäger and Dominik Leusder on Europe and the European Union from the crises of social democratic welfare states in the 1970s and 80s, the Maastricht Treaty of 1992, through the eurozone crisis, to the present moment of war in Ukraine, renewed NATO expansion, and a resurgent far right.
