The Role of Maths in Destabilizing Religious Orthodoxy
Maths has been teaching, we've been doing maths for thousands of years. You get this huge acceleration in mathematical understanding of Gutenberg and the printing press. So you can't have a mathematically rigorous society and a religious society at the same time. At every stage, maths is beginning to disprove the superstition of religion. And so what I've just thought, John, as I was getting up with my Creek in my neck after my train journey this morning, contemplating the history of mathematics - because economics and maths are so exactly why you can see economics everywhere.
