i think people think of the algorithm as this faceless technological entity. And they tend to think of it as like a terminator type thing that no human controls. They can't tell it what to do, when actually these are very human systems. mark zuckerberg does decide how much to wait political content in the facebook viw. There's not even a single algorithm over time on one site. It's actually always changing. The incentives are changing, and people are making different decisions to have them act in different ways.
