The Rise and Fall of the Libertarian Movement
When slavery was in existence, that was essentially the force that brought libertarians together. A lot of early libertarians in 19th century America came out of the abolitionist movement. Once slavery went away, so too did this kind of growing libertarian movement and libertarianism died off for about 40 years in the United States.
