The Simpsons and the Family

I couldn't help but think about the Simpsons a lot while I was reading the book actually, because that seems like the most obvious example of a dissonance between a kind of idealized male breadwinner sort of family model. And yet you can really easily track sort of decade by decade how less and less that kind of reflects a kind of identifiable life for just like so many people. So that's one thing that was one. Another thing is I wonder if it might be helpful just to briefly sort of differentiate between the family and the private household.
