Naletti's father was a professor in the United States. He went back to his home country of mozambican after meeting her mam at a religious holiday camp. Her mother had been abandoned by her family when she fell in love with Mondlan. Naletti says it would have been hard for him to support an armed struggle against portuguese rule.
