Transforming the Family: Colonization, Capitalism, and Communism

This chapter examines the impact of colonial policies and immigration on family separation in marginalized communities in the United States. It argues for a transformation of the family structure to address the flaws of the nuclear family under capitalism and colonialism, advocating for a new collective proletarian understanding of family. The chapter also addresses criticisms of capitalism and the negative aspects of the nuclear family, highlighting the need to develop alternatives that promote solidarity and kinship.
