The first established college of veterinary medicine opened in leon, france in 17 61. The school was so successful that the leon veterinary college was made a royal school by king louis the fifteenth. Just four years after the school at leon opened, a second was established in alfortr to meet demand. On the european continent, the first veterinary school in north america was established in ontario, canada in 18 62.
