Next year 2020 both NASA and the European Space Agency East are sending their own rovers to look for signs of life on Mars. There's plans on the on the drawing board for missions out to Europa which is another considered to be another habitable zone in our solar system. We're building a steadily more capable space telescopes and ground-based observatories that can not only detect that a planet is there around a lot of star but actually start characterizing that planet for us.
I interview award-winning astrobiologist and science writer Lewis Dartnell. We discuss themes from his most recent book, Origins: How The Earth Made Us, as well as ideas from his field of study, astrobiology. Dr. Dartnell holds the Professorship in Science Communication at the University of Westminster.
