The Freedom Caucus's Response to Kevin McCarthy's Decline
McCarthy has to cleave himself to Trump here in part because of his relationship with those Freedom Caucus members. If he had walked away from Trump, where would that have left them? They're out there on the point for Trump. It's not like Chuck Schumer or Mitch McConnell's position, but the Freedom Caucus will have made this more possible by saying that this is the last thing that they got.
