The Role of History in the 21st Century
In your book Samya you show how in the 19th century history and historians were so complicit in the imperial project. I'm interested in how the role of historians has evolved, if historians are once agents of empire,. Like what do you think is our social and political function in the 21st century? So I think the modern historian is completely and utterly married to the nation state. But it would be denying the incredible richness of what has happened to the historical discipline as the British Empire has collapsed.
