What's the Relationship Between English and Proto American Law in South Carolina?
Author looked at charlestown during the revolutionary occupation by british forces. Even though a lot of things were different, that the law remained the same. And in particular, the treatment of enslaved people as property. They didn't have the will or interest in upsetting the slave system even if you look at emancipation after the revolution.
