Researchers found that people's representations of changes in states of matter are forward distorted. This is counterintuitive to what you'd expect from a noisy representation, right? But state changes are really interesting because they're among the most fundamental ways an object can change. And so it's worth asking how they're treated by even more basic mechanisms like perception and memory.
