The case for regret

The Gray Area with Sean Illing

CHAPTER

How Do You Know if You Have Action Regrets?

Inaction regrets outnumber action regrets by roughly two to one. The only way to address an inaction regret is to act, and that's why they stick with people. Action regrets are more easily addressed if you can imagine a counterfactual situation in which things were even worse than the real thing. These four corps regrets are things that people care deeply about: leading a psychologically rich life, trying stuff, doing stl, learning and growing, and then also connecting the people that you love. We're supposed to be sunny and positive all the time - but we don't always do it.
