Iran was ruled under monarchy up until 1979. After the Ayatollah Ruholah Khomeini came in 1979, that created the Islamic revolution. Under this theocracy, they enforced mandatory hijab. Women's testimony in court is worth half that of a man's. women are not allowed to sing solo in public. They can choose at the drop of a hat whether you're in violation of this arbitrary rule.
