The Origins of Mass Hysteria

There's a lot of strange things that look weird in the sky. Ball lightning, marsh gas and Fatah Morgana are all common explanations. But there is also mass hysteria when airships and balloons were being made. This led to people seeing UFOs before they'd even been invented. For example, Wallace Tillinggast claimed he had flown 300 miles from Massachusetts to New York City but no one ever saw him.
