The Significance of the 111 in Cricket
A nelson in cricket is said to be bad luck. To ave off the bad luck, spectators are inclined to raise a leg off the ground while the score stands at that so standing on one leg like lord nelson. Rob says tulking was a proper gentleman but i don't recall any mention of tolkin actually being a cricket player or a cricket fan. Maybe he did know about the tradition of the nelson.
