The Implications of State Support for Carbon Removal
I think what goes in hand in hand with the permitting is also the community outreach which I don't think has been very well solved either. There's still a lot uncertainty how state support should be designed in the best way to sort of interact with the private markets and my thoughts on this are not fully developed but you could at least observe that if the state support is designed in some ways it might kill the additionality for example of buying also from the private market. And then there's some foreign issues around like the accounting of tons like most countries plan to also account for carbon removal tons within their own targets so their own obligations to remove carbon.
