Lumen means hollow inside. And so that would give a name to it. So now you could have, if you want to be technical, you could be sort of stratified, salated, columnar epithelium. Not only is it sort of Stratified, but it's also got celia on it. Celia is in the name as well. Pseudostratified. Cilated. Ciliated. Columna Epithelium. There you go. It tells you about its modification. Cratihaz on its apical surface. Let's not talk about its function yet, because we will as we move through.
One of the four tissue types of the body, epithelia lines and protects our organs from the external and internal environment. In this episode, Dr Matt & Dr Mike explain how the different shape and layers of epithelia tell you what function it performs (form = functions) and highlight examples in the body where you can find each type. They also explore cancer, metaplasia, dysplasia, and Dr Matt's mums skin cancer diagnosis and surgery.
