The Battle of Kaidesh

Ramesses II was the Egyptian pharaoh and aggressor at the Battle of Kaidesh. Muwertali II was also the son of an effective ruler, Mercially II. Ramesses had spent early part of his reign fending off sea raiders on his Mediterranean coastline which the Egyptians called the Shurdam people. He may have been just a little bit shy of his 30th birthday when he went into battle.
