Virginia Apgar was a medic who qualified in 1933 in the United States. She really pioneered not only women in medicine in the U.S, but also the field of an aesthetic obstetrics. One of the many features about her and again shared by several of the women is the painstaking and continuous attention to detail and interest and curiosity. That's not a word that you use nowadays about today's scientists. You look back at someone like Darwin who had all sorts of interests and bought all kind of thinking thought processes and slants to the way he did his science.
