Are There Ways to Combat Narcissism?

Are there ways for people who are in denial narcissists or have narcissists around them to care less of what other people think about them, and is that a good way to combat narcissism? Let's talk about the people who have had narcissistic experiences. If someone's listening and they've got narcissistic personality disorder but they aren't admitting it, they can't hear this conversation, can they? They're probably thinking of someone else. But clearly, if any of us have had an experience with a narcissist, which I've had a very strong experience with one, there must have been a sense of being concerned about what they or others thought about us.
