Husses: I didn't know the specific history and what it looked like and how that played out. And i was also struck by how this was an actual arena of contention within the african american community. So, sure we'll get to that in a little bit, but i just wanted to to hie like that. Husses: The ultimate effect of these carvouts would be to relegate black Americans to ato essentially a wage cast system. But he says essentially that the essence of collective bargaining is an impersonal and standard wage.

Paris Marx is joined by Veena Dubal to discuss how Proposition 22 and the contract status of gig workers is reminiscent of the United States’ history of racial wage codes, which codified lower wages for Black workers.
