Is There a Legal Requirement for Impeachment?
The Constitution specifies what's required for impeachment. The framers, if you look at the standard, you can impeach a president for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. But disagreeing with someone politically or on policy is not sufficient grounds to impeach them. You've got to demonstrate treason, which they have an alleged. And it's interesting that George Mason proposed adding the word maladministration.
