The Rise of Liberation Theology

In 1900, some 90% of the population claimed to be Catholic. Today, Latin America is home to 40% of the world's Catholic population. Liberation theology grew out of those socioeconomic and military troubles in the last century. Even if you disagree with this theology, it is important to see it growing out of the context of a turbulent 20th century.
