The Last Samurai

In 1876, the samurai of Satsuma rebelled against the government they themselves had put in place. They chose as their leader the charismatic Sago Takamori. His army never made it further north than Kumamoto and northern Kyushu. Yamagata Ari Tomo sent in his conscripts and they met the samurai head on. Though the conscripts pre-rether lacking in terms of courage and personal bravery, in the end they had more guns, they had more bullets and they had more men - that's what kept them.
