The History of the Helmets

There's the little changes to the grommets in the sides and they come in about 1940 although one of the manufacturers has actually thought this out in 1938. The raw edge as some people call it came in mainly as a manufacturing saving rather than something to do with combat. At the same time as these helmets with the unfinished edges appeared the thickness of the helmet shell was made slightly thicker. That wasn't necessarily to stop more things coming through it that was done to make the metal easier to work so you would produce more acceptable helmets from each batch.
