Only about 2% of thyroid nodules will have a BRAF V600E mutation. Most times, if the molecular test has a suspicious result, it won't be diagnostic like this. We are now straddling the line between diagnostic information and prognostic information. But in this patient who only has an intrathyroidal two centimeter nodule, I would treat her like any other two centimeter of thyroid cancer until there's more data.
