The Congress held two simultaneous hearings in fact to discuss the gaps in the digital asset market infrastructure. The witnesses covered a wide range of views with several industry figures as well as staple anti-crypto witness Professor Hillary Allen. House Financial Services ranking member Maxine Waters said, quote, we do not need an entirely new and special framework for crypto. Rather crypto firms like other tech companies before them must recognize that they are not exceptional. They need to comply with the laws of the land.
