The first line of a song has this natural spotlight shining on it, and so if you don't fill it with something that deserves that spot light, you're kind of wasting an opportunity. If your first line doesn't sort of contain some degree of tension, the rest of the lines are going to have to work really, really hard. The same thing is true as the last line of any section. And i borrow this terminology from my lyric writing teach, pat patterson, a who's written fantastic books on irevection, bort, experece with it. So he calls this concept of what i call 'power positions' -  the first line and the last
