The Bias Towards Younger Poets
When you go to Russia, does it seem like American poetry is back 50 years ago and people are talking about Robert Lowe or not talking about him? But that's kind of what? No, no, I don't think so at all. When I was in Berlin, the people were completely biased towards younger poets. You know, when somebody asked me the names of some poets that I was reading, and I tried it out lazily, I just felt the room like, what else is new?
