Social Choice Theory Is Not the Same as Decision Theory

Social choice theory is itself based on false assumptions about what thinking and deciding consist of. It is mistaking an abstract process that it has named decision making for the real life process of the same name. You can call these two things the same thing, but it does not make them the same thing. In much the same way as saying something will probably happen, although it seems reasonable because it's part of our vernacular, does not mean that that something willprobably happen. After all, something happens or does not happen. Nothing ever probably happens. It happens.
