In Hong Kong, dozens of teens have been arrested for the things they've said online. The reason why these young people sound so afraid is because the threat to them is not theoretical. A TikTok spokesperson told me the app wasn't censoring videos about Hong Kong. And months later, they shut down the app in Hong Kong entirely.
