The Disadvantages of Point Shoes

In the 90s, this X answer called Eliza Gaynor-Mindon tried to reinvent the point shoe. She made something that looks almost indistinguishable from a traditional point shoe but it has so much different materials. And these became extremely controversial. Why are your shoes so controversial? I think there's a PhD thesis in this.
