How to Change the Narrative of an Underrepresented Group
Narratives are social objects. My narrative doesn't exclusively belong to me, and therefore i don't have the power to unilaterally change my narrative. For people from under represented groups, they are also likely to be the ones who have the least amount of political power to effect those narratives within the organization. Having that champion, instead of a mentor, someone who's there not only to help you navigate the waters, but to actually build the canals and dikes is an incredibly powerful job.
