The Chinese Diaspora
I was going to mention that another big aspect of this book is the Chinese diaspora. There's often an inherent tension there around what is acceptable to do with one's life after such a sacrifice has been made in order for you to have "a better life" I read that your parents weren't pleased when you became a writer and this expectation among immigrant parents of what their children should do, can and often does end up fracturing families. So I was wondering if you could speak to that experience of that tension in your own writing journey.
